Beste Dick en Dies,
Heel hartelijk bedankt voor jullie uitvoerige brief over de heer TEAF, van wie wij dezer dagen ook zelf een brief kregen. Het is bijzonder hartelijk van jullie dat je ons op die wijze behulpzaam bent bij de voorbereidingen. Het spreekt vanzelf dat ik, wat mijn colleges en seminaria betreft, mij gaarne naar de wensen van het college zal richten.
Voorts wilde ik jullie ook hartelijk bedanken voor het telegram op mijn verjaardag, waaruit, zoals gewoonlijk, Dick's goede geheugen bleek. Wij hadden een heel gezellige dag, die zich ten dele op het Planbureau afspeelde en waarin ook het N.E.I. een aandeel had.
Misschien mag ik binnenkort nog wel eens opnieuw op de kwestie Haverford terugkomen, als er nog problemen zijn. Voorlopig alvast hartelijk dank.

Dear Dick and Dies,
Thank you very much for your detailed letter about Mr. TEAF, from whom we also received a letter ourselves these days. It is very kind of you to help us in this way with the preparations. It goes without saying that, as far as my lectures and seminars are concerned, I will gladly comply with the wishes of the college.
Furthermore, I would also like to thank you heartily for the telegram on my birthday, which, as usual, showed Dick's good memory. We had a very pleasant day, which partly took place at the Planning Bureau and in which the N.E.I. also had a share.
Perhaps I may come back to the Haverford issue again soon, if there are still problems. For now, thank you very much in advance.
