Zeer geachte Collega,
Hieronder zend ik U enkele titels van geschriften, de titel van 1 boek en van twee lezingen, die op het onderwerp van de economische diagnose en prognose betrekking hebben en afkomstig zijn uit Duitsland en Engeland. Er is over dit onderwerp na de oorlog niet zoveel verschenen, omdat men t.g.v. de oorlog de normale conjunctuurbeweging niet verwachtte. De activiteit van veel onderzoekers is daarentegen gericht geweest op het vaststellen van nationale rekeningen en nationale plannen, waarbij van de meer typische conjunctuurvoorspelling niet veel gebruik werd gemaakt. Langzamerhand komt deze nu weer wat op de voorgrond. De Duitse tijdschriften, die ik U noem, geven nog het meeste op dit gebied, Ik neem aan dat U de London and Cambridge Economic Service wel bekend is. Deze heeft overigens kort geleden opgehouden te bestaan. In België daarentegen verschijnt nog regelmatig het Bulletin de l'institut des recherches economiques de l'université de Louvain. Het beste samenvattende werk is dat van Dr A. Wissler. De twee laatste titels zijn die van lezingen gehouden op de rondetafel conferentie te Oxford in 1952 en zijn nog niet gepubliceerd, maar wel aan de deelnemers uitgereikt. Misschien kunt U een exemplaar ontvangen door bemiddeling van Madame H. Berger Lieser, Association internationale des sciences économiques, 27 rue St Guillaume, Paris VII.
De heer v.d. Berg is dezer dagen bij mij op bezoek geweest en wij zijn aanstonds flink aan het werk gegaan

Below I send you some titles of writings, the title of 1 book and of two lectures, which relate to the subject of economic diagnosis and prognosis and originate from Germany and England. Not much has appeared on this subject after the war, because due to the war the normal business cycle movement was not expected. The activity of many researchers has instead been focused on establishing national accounts and national plans, in which not much use was made of the more typical business cycle forecasting. Gradually this is now coming to the fore again. The German journals that I mention to you still provide the most in this field. I assume that the London and Cambridge Economic Service is well known to you. This has, by the way, recently ceased to exist. In Belgium, on the other hand, the Bulletin de l'institut des recherches economiques de l'université de Louvain still appears regularly. The best summary work is that of Dr A. Wissler. The last two titles are those of lectures held at the round table conference in Oxford in 1952 and have not yet been published, but have been distributed to the participants. Perhaps you can receive a copy through the mediation of Madame H. Berger Lieser, Association internationale des sciences économiques, 27 rue St Guillaume, Paris VII.
