Zeer geachte Heer Monkhorst,
In antwoord op Uw brief van 17 Februari deel ik U mede, dat ik gaarne bereid ben de daarin vervatte uitnodiging te aanvaarden.
Ten aanzien van de Ontwerp-Statuten vraag ik mij af of het niet aanbeveling zou verdienen daarin nog enkele kleine wijzigingen aan te brengen.
a. Zou men wel statutair vastleggen, dat de in artikel 4 genoemde economen zich verbinden de tekst van hun voordrachten ter beschikking te stellen? Zou men dit niet enigermate meer facultatief kunnen maken?
b. T.a.v. artikel 4 is er een kleine inconsistentie. Artikel 4 vermeldt enerzijds dat de leden van het college voor het leven benoemd worden, terwijl het anderzijds vaststelt dat het in meerderheid moet zijn samengesteld uit docenten.
Hier kan, zij het met geringe waarschijnlijkheid, de situatie ontstaan, dat door wijziging van functie van een of meer leden de meerderheid een minderheid wordt.
c. Evenzo schijnt er een kleine logische tegenspraak te zijn tussen artikel 7 en artikel 8. Artikel 7 zou moeten luiden: De statuten van deze Stichting, met uitzondering van art. 8, kunnen te allen tijde ....

Dear Mr. Monkhorst,
In response to your letter of February 17, I inform you that I am gladly prepared to accept the invitation contained therein.
Regarding the Draft Statutes, I wonder whether it would not be advisable to make some small changes to them.
a. Should it be laid down in the statutes that the economists mentioned in Article 4 undertake to make the text of their lectures available? Could this not be made somewhat more optional?
b. Regarding Article 4, there is a small inconsistency. Article 4 states on the one hand that the members of the board are appointed for life, while on the other hand it stipulates that it must be composed of a majority of teachers.
Here, albeit with low probability, the situation could arise that due to a change of function of one or more members, the majority becomes a minority.
c. Likewise, there seems to be a small logical contradiction between Article 7 and Article 8. Article 7 should read: The statutes of this Foundation, with the exception of Art. 8, can at any time ....
