Amice,
Thans heb ik Econometrica ontvangen en ik moet zeggen dat de bespreking van je boekje mij niet geslaagd voorkomt. Aan de andere kant is het althans bij ons slechts in uitzonderingsgevallen dat de auteur tot anti-critiek overgaat. Ik weet niet of de redactie van Econometrica hieromtrent een bepaalde gedragslijn heeft uitgestippeld, doch daarover zal je ongetwijfeld bericht ontvangen. Wel komt het me voor dat het Engels op een aantal punten nog niet geheel correct is en het zal dus misschien aanbeveling verdienen, indien je het antwoord nog niet hebt verzonden, het nog eens te laten doorlezen. Overigens zal het ook

mogelijk zijn dat men dat in Chicago doet. Gaarne houd ik me aanbevolen voor een berichtje van jouw kant hoe men in Chicago heeft gereageerd.

I have now received Econometrica and I must say that the review of your booklet does not seem successful to me. On the other hand, at least with us, it is only in exceptional cases that the author proceeds to anti-criticism. I do not know if the editors of Econometrica have mapped out a certain line of conduct in this regard, but you will undoubtedly receive word about that. It does seem to me that the English is not yet entirely correct on a number of points and it might therefore be advisable, if you have not yet sent the answer, to have it read through again. Moreover, it will also

be possible that they do that in Chicago. I would be happy to receive a message from your side about how they reacted in Chicago.
