De teraardebestelling zal plaats hebben Donderdag a.s. circa 2.45 uur in het familiegraf op de begraafplaats Oud Eik en Duinen; vertrek te 2.30 uur vanaf het sterfhuis.

Geachte Familie,
Met leedwezen en weemoed ontving ik het overlijdensbericht van Uw vader. Ik heb jaren lang bijzonder prettig met hem mogen samenwerken en zijn menselijk oordeel en belangstelling voor het maatschappelijk leven zeer leren waarderen. Ook heb Ik er van genoten wanneer hij over zijn liefde voor de schilderkunst sprak en zijn werk toelichtte. Hij had stellig op het C.B.S. vele goede vrienden en ik ben blij dat ik mij daartoe ook mocht rekenen. Ik heb ook gelegenheid gehad om te zien hoe hij naast zijn gewone werk kans zag in geheel nieuwe, vaak moeilijke vraagstukken zich in te werken, ondanks het feit dat hij geen officiële opleiding had gehad in deze richting. Hij heeft voor mij altijd als voorbeeld gegolden van iemand, die zonder [dere] opleiding tot een leidende positie was opgeklommen.
Zeer tot mijn spijt ben ik door een dringende vergadering niet in staat om bij de begrafenis aanwezig te zijn, doch ik wilde toch gaarne op deze wijze van mijn vriendschap voor hem getuigen.

Today passed away from us, to our great sorrow, at the age of 69, our dear Father, Father-in-law and Grandfather, Brother, Brother-in-law, Uncle and Housemate,
CARL WILHELM LOUIS STIEL,
Former Assistant Secretary at the Central Bureau of Statistics,
Officer in the Order of Orange-Nassau.
Duty, respect for life and love for the beautiful, were the foundations of his work.

The burial will take place this coming Thursday at approximately 2.45 p.m. in the family grave at the Oud Eik en Duinen cemetery; departure at 2.30 p.m. from the house of death.

Dear Family,
With regret and melancholy I received the notice of your father's passing. For many years I had the pleasure of working with him and came to greatly appreciate his human judgment and interest in social life. I also enjoyed it when he spoke about his love for painting and explained his work. He certainly had many good friends at the C.B.S. and I am glad that I could count myself among them. I also had the opportunity to see how, alongside his regular work, he managed to familiarize himself with entirely new, often difficult issues, despite the fact that he had no official training in this direction. To me, he always served as an example of someone who had risen to a leading position without [further] education.
Much to my regret, due to an urgent meeting, I am unable to be present at the funeral, but I still wanted to testify to my friendship for him in this way.
