Geeft te kennen met versch. eerbied ondergetekende Jan Tinbergen (gewoon diensttijd, lichting 1923) wonende te 's Gravenhage, Bentinckstr. 146 (tijdelijk adres tot 10 Juli a.s. Kloksteeg 3A, Leiden)
dat hij begin Juli 1923 ingelijfd is bij het 6e Regim. veldart., bereden, 2e ploeg garnizoen Leiden;
dat hij tweemaal uitstel van eerste oefening verkregen heeft, telkens voor den tijd van 1 jaar;
dat hij reeds in 1923 gewetensbezwaren tegen het uitoefenen van den milit. dienstplicht gevoelde, doch op aanraden van andersdenkenden eerst zijn studien voltooide;
dat hij deze gewetensbezwaren nog steeds gevoelt en daarom Uwe Excellentie verzoekt hem anderhalf jaar in burgerlijken dienst te plaatsen

The undersigned Jan Tinbergen (regular service time, class of 1923) makes known with due respect, residing in The Hague, Bentinckstr. 146 (temporary address until July 10 next, Kloksteeg 3A, Leiden)
that at the beginning of July 1923 he was enlisted in the 6th Regim. field art., mounted, 2nd squad garrison Leiden;
that he has twice obtained a postponement of the first exercise, each time for a period of 1 year;
that already in 1923 he felt conscientious objections against the performance of military service, but on the advice of others he first completed his studies;
that he still feels these conscientious objections and therefore requests Your Excellency to place him in civil service for one and a half years
