Zeer geachte Heer Wesselink,
Naar aanleiding van Uw brief van 29 November, die ik met den Voorzitter van de Nederlandsche Stichting voor de Statistiek heb besproken, deel ik U het volgende mede.
Het is uiteraard moeilijk om U op dit moment een betrekking voor over drie jaar aan te bieden. Ook is het zeer twijfelachtig of de statistische werkzaamheden, verbonden aan het opinie-onderzoek, van dien omvang zullen zijn, dat daarvoor een volledig mathematicus noodig is.
Het is echter wel waarschijnlijk, dat het over drie jaar geen al te groote moeite voor U zal kosten om een statistische loopbaan te beginnen. Dit geldt in het bijzonder dan, wanneer U zich in den tusschentijd ook reeds eenigszins zoudt kunnen oriënteren op economisch-statistisch gebied.

Dear Mr. Wesselink,
Following your letter of 29 November, which I have discussed with the Chairman of the Netherlands Foundation for Statistics, I inform you of the following.
It is naturally difficult to offer you a position for three years from now at this moment. It is also very doubtful whether the statistical activities associated with the opinion research will be of such a scale that a full mathematician is required for them.
However, it is likely that in three years' time it will not be too much trouble for you to start a statistical career. This applies especially if, in the meantime, you could already orient yourself somewhat in the economic-statistical field.
