Mijne Heren,
In antwoord op Uw brief van 22 Juni 1951 (No.1210 M.) deel ik U mede dat de heer H.J.M. Mennes de oudste zoon is van een ambtenaar B.B., waarvan het gezin bijzonder aardig was. Nadat ik de jongeman enige jaren niet gezien had, heb ik onlangs een paar diepergaande gesprekken met hem gehad, waaruit ik de indruk heb dat hij met name tijdens zijn militaire dienst behoorlijk heeft weten aan te pakken, hetgeen dunkt mij voor U te verifiëren is door inlichtingen bij zijn superieuren, die voor het onderhavige geval wel de meest belangrijke informaties zullen vormen. Ik acht de jongeman in staat onder goede leiding behoorlijk aan te pakken. Zijn cijfers aan de Economische Hogeschool waren middelmatig, maar hij beschikt over een goede dosis gezond verstand. Ik verwacht dat U een toegewijde kracht aan hem zult hebben.

Gentlemen,
In response to your letter of 22 June 1951 (No.1210 M.), I inform you that Mr. H.J.M. Mennes is the eldest son of a B.B. official, whose family was particularly nice. After not having seen the young man for several years, I recently had a few in-depth conversations with him, from which I have the impression that he has managed to tackle things properly, especially during his military service, which I think can be verified by you through information from his superiors, which will likely constitute the most important information for the case at hand. I consider the young man capable of tackling things properly under good guidance. His grades at the Economic College were mediocre, but he possesses a good dose of common sense. I expect that you will have a dedicated worker in him.
