Amice,
Bepaalde gedeelten van het artikel van de Kadt in Socialisme en Democratie hebben mij zeer getroffen en ik ben het in bijzonder met hem eens wanneer hij zegt, dat wij de voordelen van onze maatschappijvorm op wat meer actieve wijze aan onze eigen mensen moeten duidelijk maken. Als een kleine bijdrage in deze richting, die naar ik hoop ook jouw instemming zal hebben, zou ik beschouwen een enigszins enthusiaste bespreking van het rapport, dat onlangs is uitgegeven door de Dienst van het Nationale Plan (dus niet mijn bureau) over de vacantie-accomodatie, die er in Nederland is en de mogelijkheden om deze op te voeren tot het noodzakelijke peil. In mijn ogen is dit rapport een bijzonder prettige bijdrage tot de verdere opbouw van onze maatschappij en is het een verheugend feit, dat een dergelijk onderwerp op zo serieuze en smakelijke wijze is aangepakt. Het adres van bedoelde Rijksdienst is Lange Voorhout 19, den Haag. Zou je er voor voelen dit rapport inderdaad te laten bespreken, dan geloof ik dat je daarmede een erg goed werk zou doen. Volledigheidshalve moet ik mij verontschuldigen voor het geval dat deze bespreking reeds zou hebben plaats gehad, maar door mijn afwezigheid zou zijn ontgaan; ik ben enige tijd buitenslands geweest. Zoals je uit het bovenstaande zult begrijpen, komt het natuurlijk op de toon en de constructiewijze van de bespreking nogwel het een en ander aan.
Ook in andere opzichten is het wellicht mogelijk nogeens met de gedachte in de aanhef van mijn brief rekening te houden. Mocht ik eens zelf een bijdrage kunnen leveren, dan zal ik, zoals gewoonlijk, mij gaarne melden of gaarne de aanwijzingen ontvangen.

Certain parts of the article by de Kadt in Socialism and Democracy have struck me greatly and I particularly agree with him when he says that we must make the advantages of our form of society clear to our own people in a somewhat more active way. As a small contribution in this direction, which I hope will also have your approval, I would consider a somewhat enthusiastic review of the report that was recently published by the National Plan Service (so not my office) about the holiday accommodation available in the Netherlands and the possibilities to increase this to the necessary level. In my eyes, this report is a particularly pleasant contribution to the further construction of our society and it is a gratifying fact that such a subject has been tackled in such a serious and tasteful manner. The address of the mentioned National Service is Lange Voorhout 19, The Hague. Should you feel like having this report reviewed, then I believe that you would be doing a very good job with that. For the sake of completeness, I must apologize in case this review has already taken place, but escaped my notice due to my absence; I have been abroad for some time. As you will understand from the above, the tone and the construction of the review naturally matter quite a bit.
In other respects as well, it might be possible to once again take into account the thought in the opening of my letter. Should I ever be able to provide a contribution myself, I will, as usual, be happy to report or happy to receive instructions.
