Gentlemen,
I got your letters of August 4 and 7 and apologize for answering only now. Concerning the points of criticism mentioned in your 2nd letter I should like to propose that we just keep them in mind for the possibility that a new edition should be considered. I do think, however, that the first 2 points have been somewhat misunderstood by the reviewer.
I very much appreciate the idea put forward in your first letter; however, I feel that the books published since then by Prof. Koopmans (Wiley) and Prof. Klein more or less fill the gap of which the reviewer spoke. Also I am unfortunately still taken by my official duties and shall not have time to write another book. I am hoping nevertheless for better times to come and I am thinking of writing a book on economic policy. Perhaps I may if these plans would realise materialise take up this matter with you.
