Dear Sir,
Excuse me for not yet having answered your kind letter of August 6. In fact, the whole matter is somewhat difficult for me, since my book INTERNATIONAL ECONOMIC COOPERATION is, first of all, written in rather bad English and, secondly, as you rightly observe, already antiquated in many respects. Since, however, I understand that the Spanish translation has already been prepared, I agree with you that we must try to solve the problem by altering certain passages and stress others. As to the list, you give, I quite agree. I should like, however, to add certain further sections at various points dealing with newer aspects of international and, in particular, European integration (custom unions and the various plans brought forward in the O.E.E.C.), as well as the dollar problem. I am now writing some of these sections and I shall forward them to you as soon as possible; but it will take some time before they are all ready.
I take it that the questions of rights of translation have been arranged with the publisher, n.v. Elsevier, Spuistraat 118 b, Amsterdam.
