Dear Colleague,
I am sending you under separate cover two English memoranda on some problems of immigration which we studied with the help of a simple long-term development model. I want to make it clear to you that these attempts were only modest beginnings with many shortcomings. Both my friend Verdoorn and myself are trying to develop and to improve these models and we shall be glad to let you have our working papers even if they are not yet ripe for publication. We enjoyed our discussion with you very much indeed, and we feel that it was most stimulating to our own work.
I hope your journey back was uneventful and that you found your institute in good order.
