Zeer geachte Heer van Nieuwenhuyze,
De vergadering van de "Economic Section" heeft de functie besproken, die de colleges van de heer LINKS hebben in de economische vorming van de studenten. Men was unaniem van mening, dat de colleges in differentiaal- en integraalrekening voor alle studenten van belang is en zou het zeer op prijs stellen indien deze ook na Kerstmis zouden kunnen worden voortgezet. De periode vóór Kerstmis was namelijk bepaaldelijk te kort voor de behandeling van deze stof.
Ten aanzien van het meer gespecialiseerde college van de heer LINKS, dat hij op het ogenblik buiten het rooster om op verzoek van de studenten geeft, wilde men zich een oordeel voorbehouden, totdat de vraag in het algemeen besproken is, in welke mate het I.S.S. specialisten moet opleiden. In dit laatste geval zou het een nuttige functie hebben, doch indien men deze specialisatie niet wenst, zou het buiten het officiële rooster moeten blijven.
In verband met het vorenstaande zou de sectie het zeer op prijs stellen wanneer de heer LINKS officieel verzocht zou worden zijn colleges differentiaal- en integraalrekening voort te zetten.

Dear Mr. van Nieuwenhuyze,
The meeting of the "Economic Section" discussed the function that Mr. LINKS's lectures have in the economic education of the students. It was unanimously agreed that the lectures in differential and integral calculus are important for all students and it would be greatly appreciated if these could also be continued after Christmas. The period before Christmas was specifically too short for the treatment of this material.
Regarding the more specialized lecture by Mr. LINKS, which he is currently giving outside the schedule at the request of the students, one wished to reserve judgment until the question has been discussed in general as to what extent the I.S.S. should train specialists. In the latter case, it would have a useful function, but if this specialization is not desired, it should remain outside the official schedule.
In connection with the above, the section would greatly appreciate it if Mr. LINKS were officially requested to continue his lectures on differential and integral calculus.
