Zeer geachte Heer de Wit,
Bijgaand zend ik U het artikel van de heer Zonnenberg, die het aan mij terugzond. Had U geen andere verbeteringen met hem afgesproken dan de thans in de noot 9a aangebrachte? Ofschoon ik geen overwegende bezwaren heb tegen het artikel, vind ik de vorm toch eigenlijk nog weinig geslaagd. Het is allemaal zo zwaar, terwijl het toch zo eenvoudig zou kunnen worden voorgesteld. Er komt bij dat enerzijds deze vraagstukken wel degelijk bestudeerd worden, bv. op het Planbureau, terwijl ik aan de andere kant nog niet zie wie het geld zal overhebben voor nog wel liefst 2 of 3 andere researchinstituten. Maar zelfs al zou ik het met de schrijver helemaal eens zijn, dan nog meen ik dat men zijn zaak op een heel wat eenvoudiger en directer wijze zou kunnen voorstellen. Ik wens intussen mij hier niet in te steken en laat U gaarne de afdoening.

Dear Mr. de Wit,
Enclosed I send you the article by Mr. Zonnenberg, who returned it to me. Had you not agreed on any other improvements with him than those currently made in note 9a? Although I have no major objections to the article, I still find the form not very successful. It is all so heavy, while it could be presented so simply. In addition, on the one hand, these issues are indeed being studied, e.g. at the Planning Bureau, while on the other hand, I do not yet see who will have the money to spare for as many as 2 or 3 other research institutes. But even if I were to completely agree with the author, I still believe that one could present his case in a much simpler and more direct way. In the meantime, I do not wish to get involved in this and gladly leave the handling to you.
