Zeer geachte Heer Van der Werff,
Van Uw aantekeningen heb ik nuttig gebruik gemaakt voor wat betre[ft] de verdere tikfouten in de formules. Daar ik mijn eigen berekeningen niet heb kunnen terugvinden ben ik thans niet nader ingegaan op het door U gevonden nieuwe punt. Dat bewaren wij dus voor de "note" die wij samen gaan schrijven. Wel kan ik U zeggen, dat de questie dat de formules 5.7 en 5.8 ook in D¹ zouden zijn uit te drukken, berust op het feit dat U de tekst verkeerd begrepen hebt. Gisteren heb ik dat ook niet opgemerkt. Er staat: "into expressions with D¹ and without one of the other D's", hetgeen niet hetzelfde is als "without any of the other D's". Er is dus juist op gewezen dat een van de andere D's wél nodig is.

Dear Mr. Van der Werff,
I have made useful use of your notes regarding the further typing errors in the formulas. Since I have not been able to find my own calculations, I have not yet gone further into the new point found by you. We will therefore save that for the "note" that we are going to write together. I can tell you, however, that the issue of formulas 5.7 and 5.8 also being expressible in D¹ is based on the fact that you misunderstood the text. I did not notice that yesterday either. It says: "into expressions with D¹ and without one of the other D's", which is not the same as "without any of the other D's". It has therefore been correctly pointed out that one of the other D's is indeed necessary.
