Zeer geachte Heer Quik,
In antwoord op Uw brief van 10 Februari moet ik U mededelen, dat het niet eenvoudig is candidaten te noemen. Het komt mij voor dat de beste candidaat, die op het ogenblik kan worden gesteld, de heer Ekker is, U wel bekend. Daarnaast zou ik toch ook nog de aandacht willen vestigen op de heer L.C. Kuiken, Adjunct-Directeur van het Centraal Planbureau, die in deze functie uitstekend voldoet en daarbij ongetwijfeld met vraagstukken als door U genoemd in zeer nauwe aanraking is geweest. De heer Kuiken was voorheen werkzaam bij de Herstelbank, waardoor hij nog meer met details van bepaalde ontwikkelingsprojecten te maken heeft gehad. Zijn persoonlijk optreden is steeds zeer correct en evenwichtig, waardoor hij ook uitermate geschikt is om groepen van mensen te doen samenwerken. Hij zal zich in een internationaal milieu zeker gemakkelijk kunnen bewegen.
Tot nadere inlichtingen ben ik gaarne bereid.

Dear Mr. Quik,
In response to your letter of February 10, I must inform you that it is not easy to name candidates. It seems to me that the best candidate who can be proposed at the moment is Mr. Ekker, well known to you. In addition, I would also like to draw attention to Mr. L.C. Kuiken, Deputy Director of the Central Planning Bureau, who performs excellently in this position and has undoubtedly been in very close contact with issues such as those mentioned by you. Mr. Kuiken was previously employed at the Herstelbank, where he was even more involved with details of certain development projects. His personal conduct is always very correct and balanced, which also makes him extremely suitable for making groups of people work together. He will certainly be able to move easily in an international environment.
