Beste Henk,
Neem mij niet kwalijk dat ik je pas vandaag antwoord op je brief van 25 Maart. Pas nu echter heb ik de nodige gegevens om te kunnen beoordelen wanneer ik vanuit Haverford naar Washington zal kunnen komen. Het spreekt vanzelf, dat ik heel graag eens bij het Fund een spreekbeurt zal vervullen. Het blijkt nu dat ik steeds de tweede helft van de week gelegenheid heb om naar andere plaatsen toe te gaan, aangezien ik van Maandag tot en met Woensdag bezet ben in Haverford. Inmiddels heb ik de weken in October voorshands moeten blokkeren in verband met een bezoek aan Harvard, waarop ik echter over enige weken wel antwoord hoop te hebben. Het weekeinde van 6-8 November is bezet met een conferentie in New York. Misschien mogen wij, als je in Juni in Holland bent, trachten tot een afspraak te komen, ook wat het onderwerp betreft.

1. On the Theory of Economic Policy. Possibly also to be announced otherwise, e. g. "Consistency, targets and instruments of economic policy" or "Economic policy: its consistency and the interrelations between targets and instruments"
2. Planning Financial Equilibrium in the Netherlands.
3. Problems of Economic Integration, with special reference to the tax problem in the European Coal and Steel Community (or this latter subject separately, possibly, to be announced as "The Tax Controversy in the Schuman Pool").
4. More Realism needed in Welfare Economics.
5. Economic and Social Cooperation in Holland.

Please excuse me for only answering your letter of March 25 today. Only now, however, do I have the necessary data to be able to judge when I will be able to come to Washington from Haverford. It goes without saying that I would very much like to give a lecture at the Fund. It now appears that I always have the opportunity to go to other places in the second half of the week, as I am occupied in Haverford from Monday to Wednesday inclusive. In the meantime, I have had to block the weeks in October for the time being in connection with a visit to Harvard, for which I hope to have an answer in a few weeks. The weekend of November 6-8 is occupied with a conference in New York. Perhaps we can try to reach an agreement, also regarding the subject, when you are in Holland in June.
