Zeer geachte Heer Walpoott,
Uw brief aan de Minister van Financiën werd door deze aan mij toegezonden. Intussen hebben wij reeds contact gehad, waarbij ik U heb aanbevolen om octrooi te nemen op Uw uitvinding. Mocht dat naar Uw mening minder in aanmerking komen, dan komt het mij voor dat publicatie van gedeeltelijke resultaten de meest aangewezen weg is om op dit terrein een zekere bekendheid te verwerven, hetgeen het te nutte maken van Uw geaccumuleerde inzicht zou vergemakkelijken. Men kan dunkt mij gedeelten publiceren, zonder dat men daarbij zijn werkwijze geheel aan de openbaarheid prijs geeft.

Dear Mr. Walpoott,
Your letter to the Minister of Finance was sent to me by him. In the meantime, we have already had contact, during which I recommended that you take out a patent on your invention. Should that, in your opinion, be less eligible, then it seems to me that publication of partial results is the most appropriate way to acquire a certain reputation in this field, which would facilitate making use of your accumulated insight. It seems to me that one can publish parts without completely exposing one's method to the public.
