Dear Mr Price,
Thank you very much for having sent me a copy of your draft report. I got it on September 13 with the request to let you have my comments by the middle of September or in any case by the end of it. I think the best thing I can do is to send you the very few remarks I have by air, of which I enclose a copy in the copy of the manuscript which I was asked to send back to your Embassy in the Hague.
I thought the best thing I could [I was] do as to reading to pick out some chapters more specifically connected with my own duties, and so I read most of part IV as far as dealing with Europe. I think you presented the Dutch situation as well as my personal views very correctly and I read with great interest what you wrote on the subject generally. Just one or two minor points there are on which I want to draw your attention. On page 601 you mention 1949 as the year in which the Customs Convention in Benelux was signed and ratified. I suppose this must be 1947 since our common tariff came into operation on January 1 1948.
On page 608 in the note there is just one e missing at the end of the word "Europese".
I hope you excuse the futility of the last remark which may show you that I have no more substantial things to say.
