Zeer geachte Heer v.d. Brink,
Wellicht herinnert U zich dat U reeds geruime tijd geleden aan mij hebt gevraagd of ik wellicht een 2e druk van International Economic Cooperation zou kunnen bezorgen. Ik heb U toen medegedeeld dat dat op dat ogenblik niet gemakkelijk was en dat er wel enige tijd zou heengaan. Het is thans zover dat ik het overgrote gedeelte van de tekst in eerste instantie heb geschreven. Ik heb weliswaar ongeveer dezelfde indeling gevolgd als in de eerste druk, maar heb het boek volledig overgeschreven en wel direct in het Engels. Bovendien heb ik het voorstel om deze 2e druk een lichtelijk verschillende titel te geven, namelijk International Economic Integration, omdat dit laatste vraagstuk zozeer in het centrum van de belangstelling staat.
Ik moet het Engels nog laten doorlezen, doch heb iemand die zeer vlot dergelijke zaken behandelt; ook moet ik nog een aantal bijlagen verzorgen. Maar ik heb toch hoop dat ik dit alles nog tijdens de zomer klaar krijg en meende daarom goed te doen U maar vast te waarschuwen.

Dear Mr. v.d. Brink,
Perhaps you remember that quite some time ago you asked me if I might be able to provide a 2nd edition of International Economic Cooperation. I informed you then that it was not easy at that moment and that some time would pass. It has now reached the point where I have written the vast majority of the text in the first instance. Although I have followed roughly the same structure as in the first edition, I have completely rewritten the book, and directly in English. Furthermore, I have the proposal to give this 2nd edition a slightly different title, namely International Economic Integration, because this latter issue is so much at the center of interest.
I still have to have the English proofread, but I have someone who handles such matters very fluently; I also still have to prepare a number of appendices. But I still have hope that I will get all this ready during the summer and therefore thought it best to warn you in advance.
