Dear Mr Menon,
From December 5 - 18 the biennial congress of the International Statistical Institute will be held in India. This congress will be followed by other meetings under the auspices of both the International Institute and the Indian Economic Association. As the Secretary-General of this Institute it is my intention also to participate in this congress and a special airplane of the Indian National Airline will be put at the disposal of the visitors of this congress on December 1. I should be very obliged if you could supply me with a visé for this visit.
I am not exactly informed as to whether other visé for transition purposes through other countries will be necessary, and I would appreciate it very much if your Embassy would kindly inquire for me what further formalities would be necessary. Please, accept my sincere thanks beforehand for any trouble you may be kind enough to take.
