Dear Scitovsky,
It seems to be a difficult thing for us to meet in Europe ! My conference in Paris has been postponed and starts on Monday next, because of the illness of Mrs Burns. I tried to get hold of you yesterday, but at the same time got your letter telling me about the illness of your little daughter. I hope she is better and will enjoy her crossing to the continent.
Unfortunately we shall now not be able to meet you, but my deputy KUIKEN will of course be very glad to preside the meeting on Monday. I am almost certain you will find it a stimulating group and I am very sorry that I can't be there.
Please, give my best regards to Mrs Scitovsky. My wife and I do hope that you could repeat your visit to Holland somewhat later in the year. If there is any chance to pass along our country, please don't forget to let us know !
