Geachte Heer Waterbolk,
De brief die ik U indertijd heb gestuurd herinner ik mij niet. Maar ik wil U wel meedelen dat ik oorlog een misdaad vind en dat ik van mening ben dat de bevolking niet moet groeien. Ik kan echter mijn kinderen niet voorschrijven hoeveel kinderen zij hebben. Daarvan moeten wij hopen dat langzamerhand begrepen wordt, dat minder kinderen beter is. Tegenwoordig zijn de gezinnen al duidelijk kleiner dan in de tijd van mijn ouders.

Dear Mr. Waterbolk,
I do not remember the letter I sent you at the time. But I do want to inform you that I consider war a crime and that I am of the opinion that the population should not grow. However, I cannot prescribe to my children how many children they should have. Of that, we must hope that it is gradually understood that fewer children is better. Nowadays, families are already clearly smaller than in my parents' time.
