Zeer geachte Heer Kortenhorst,
Naar aanleiding van de mij toegezonden ontwerp-statuten is bij mijn collega's van het Nederlandsch Economisch Instituut en bij mijzelf de vraag gerezen of de in artikel 3 sub 2 en 3 bedoelde werkwijze wel de meest efficiënte is. Het samenstellen van een overzicht als daar bedoeld zou uitermate tijdrovend zijn en vrijwel niet volledig te maken zijn. Bovendien komt het mij voor om op het spoor te komen van de beste prestaties men zeker niet voordelig behoeft te zijn, men kan toch immers ook een groep deskundigen vragen hun oordeel te geven, over de beste prestaties die in een bepaald jaar op dit gebied zijn geleverd en de toekenning van de Prijs daarop baseren.
Daarbij komt nog dat ik van Prof. Derksen hoorde dat de Verenigde Naties ook reeds regelmatig een overzicht hierover samenstellen.

Dear Mr. Kortenhorst,
Following the draft statutes sent to me, the question has arisen among my colleagues at the Netherlands Economic Institute and myself whether the working method intended in Article 3 sub 2 and 3 is indeed the most efficient. Compiling an overview as intended there would be extremely time-consuming and almost impossible to make complete. Moreover, it seems to me that to identify the best achievements, it certainly does not need to be advantageous [to proceed this way], as one can after all also ask a group of experts to give their judgment on the best achievements delivered in a certain year in this field and base the awarding of the Prize on that.
In addition, I heard from Prof. Derksen that the United Nations also already regularly compiles an overview on this.
