Dear Wold,
Thank you for yours of July 23 which I got this morning. Needless to say that I would have enjoyed a trip to Sweden very much: I like the country and I have many friends in it. In addition to this, the programme certainly is very interesting. I am, however, completely tied up by wage negotiations and the corresponding background research which prevents me anyhow from attending the meeting. Please, excuse me also with the council members. I am sure that the conference will be a success and that wise decisions will be taken by the council members.
