My dear Meade,
It was a great pleasure to see you in London and I want to thank you once more for your kind reception. Unfortunately I forgot one point which I may submit to you by letter. It is the intention of the Netherlands Government to create a school for the training of civil servants of underdeveloped countries, making use of the presence in my country of numerous experts among the former Indonesian civil servants. The institute will be called International Academic Institute and care is being taken by the selection of teachers that a school on an international level will develop. My request is whether you would be prepared to give some lectures during a few weeks some time after the summer of 1952 within the frame of "special lectures by foreign experts". The subject could be chosen by yourself from your experience in economic

policy planning, and the whole matter is in this stage only a matter of principle. If you are prepared in principle there might later on be more exact discussions about the conditions and the timing. I do hope that you will find it possible some time to come to us in this capacity.
