Zeer geachte Mejuffrouw Meijers,
Tot mijn spijt hoorde ik dat U twee maanden thuis moet blijven. Ik hoop dat U deze tijd zult gebruiken om goed op te knappen, maar wij zullen U op het Instituut bepaald ernstig missen. U zult geheel andere bezigheden moeten verzinnen om deze twee maanden door te komen. Hebt U pleizier in lezen ? Mocht U nog wensen hebben om bepaalde boeken te lenen bijvoorbeeld, dan zullen mijn vrouw en ik graag trachten daaraan te voldoen.
Op mijn verjaardag werd ik verrast met een prachtig boek van het N.E.I., waarvoor ik U ook wel mag bedanken.

Dear Miss Meijers,
To my regret I heard that you must stay home for two months. I hope that you will use this time to recover well, but we will certainly miss you seriously at the Institute. You will have to invent completely different activities to get through these two months. Do you enjoy reading? If you should have any wishes to borrow certain books, for example, then my wife and I will gladly try to fulfill them.
On my birthday I was surprised with a beautiful book from the N.E.I., for which I may also thank you.
