PROF. DR J. TINBERGEN
THE HAGUE, 10 July 1951
Sijzenlaan 41.
[UvO]
Mr J.C. Taupin, Recruitment Section, Bureau of Personnel, United Nations, New York.
Dear Mr Taupin,
May I in reply to your letter of July 5 draw your attention upon and recommend the following persons for the vacancy in your Stability Section, Stability and Development Division, Department of Economic Affairs:
1. Prof. Dr Louis Zimmerman, formerly research economist and statistician at the Netherlands Central Bureau of Statistics; since 1945 professor at the French University in Germany (Mainz). I know Prof. Zimmerman is planning to leave Mainz and may be available therefore.
2. M.A. Jansen, research economist and statistician with the Economic Commission for Europe, Geneva, formerly economist at the Central Planning Bureau, the Hague.
3. W.H. Somermeyer, lawyer who specialised on statistics and economic research, now in charge of the Statistical Bureau of the Government of Curacao, Willemstad, Curacao. Mr Somermeyer is a somewhat less flexible mind than the two other gentlemen, but very intelligent and active.
Yours very sincerely,
