Amici,
Inderdaad blijkt het dat ik het artikel van Van de Woestijne nog niet had doorgezonden, waarvoor gaarne mijn welgemeende verontschuldigingen. Ik heb een aantal opmerkingen met potlood bij de tekst geschreven en ik zou mijn algemene oordeel als volgt willen samenvatten.
Mij lijkt de poging van Van de Woestijne om te komen tot een algemene gedaante van de vraagcurve gerechtvaardigd en practisch geslaagd. Het enige amendement dat ik er op zou hebben - en dat is practisch niet zo belangrijk, maar theoretisch wel - is dat m.i. in plaats van de geïntegreerde Gauss-curve de groeicurve zou moeten worden gebruikt. Deze twee zijn uiterlijk vrijwel niet te onderscheiden. Daarom kan men desnoods ook de geïntegreerde Gauss-curve, waarvoor het door Van de Woestijne gebruikte speciale papier bestaat in de plaats stellen van de groeicurve. Voor de theoretische fundering maakt het echter alle verschil. De groeicurve laat zich funderen uitsluitend met gebruikmaking van het verzadigingsverschijnsel, waarop Van de Woestijne ook zinspeelt en met een ander verschijnsel dat wel aldus geformuleerd kan worden. Zolang de vraag nog klein is heeft iedere verlaging van de prijs een exponentiële verhoging van de vraag tot gevolg. Naar mijn mening is de fundering die Van de Woestijne geeft en waar mijn voornaamste opmerkingen betrekking op hebben, op zijn minst gesproken in de tekst volkomen vaag gebleven. Ik kan mij bovendien niet onttrekken aan de indruk dat die fundering zou blijken onjuist te zijn en het zou m.i. aan de schrijver zijn de juistheid duidelijker te maken. Beter echter kan hij, naar mijn mening, dit gedeelte vervangen in de hierboven aangegeven geest.

Indeed, it appears that I had not yet forwarded Van de Woestijne's article, for which I offer my sincere apologies. I have written a number of comments in pencil on the text and I would like to summarize my general judgment as follows.
To me, Van de Woestijne's attempt to arrive at a general form of the demand curve seems justified and practically successful. The only amendment I would have to it - and this is practically not so important, but theoretically it is - is that in my opinion, instead of the integrated Gauss curve, the growth curve should be used. These two are outwardly almost indistinguishable. Therefore, if necessary, one can also substitute the integrated Gauss curve, for which the special paper used by Van de Woestijne exists, for the growth curve. For the theoretical foundation, however, it makes all the difference. The growth curve can be founded exclusively using the saturation phenomenon, which Van de Woestijne also alludes to, and another phenomenon that can indeed be formulated as follows. As long as demand is still small, every reduction in price results in an exponential increase in demand. In my opinion, the foundation that Van de Woestijne provides, and to which my main comments relate, has remained completely vague in the text, to say the least. Moreover, I cannot escape the impression that this foundation would prove to be incorrect, and in my opinion, it would be up to the author to make its correctness clearer. Better yet, in my opinion, he could replace this part in the spirit indicated above.
