Dear Mr. Hoffmann,
I still have the possibility of being in Münster on May 18th and 19th, but I can also come around the month of June if you wish. As you will remember, my proposal of January 24th was a preliminary one. I would like to leave the choice to you.
In addition, I can now make a new proposal to you regarding the subject matter. On the one hand, a lecture could be given on the consequences of the flooding in Holland for the economic situation. On the other hand, in March and April, as you may know, I worked as chairman of an expert committee of the High Authority of the Coal and Steel Community on an expert opinion that has now been published. Because the matter has aroused very strong interest in Germany and the opinion of the experts did not agree with the German opinion, it might be interesting to talk about it. In any case, I just wanted to make it clear that I for my part am happy to do so; however, I do not know whether there would be any tactical or political complaints.
If you keep May 18th and 19th as the dates, I would just like to note that I have to speak in Arnhem at 8 p.m. on the evening of May 19th and should therefore depart again on Tuesday afternoon.

Lieber Herr Hoffmann,
Ich habe noch immer die Möglichkeit am 18. und 19. Mai in Münster zu sein, kann aber auch, wenn Sie das wünschen, etwa im Monat Juni kommen. Wie Sie sich erinnern werden war mein Vorschlag des 24. Januar ein vorläufiger. Ich möchte Ihnen gerne die Wahl überlassen.
Dazu kann ich jetzt was dem Gegenstand anbetrifft Ihnen einen neuen Vorschlag machen. Einerseits liesse sich über die Konsequenzen der Überschwemmung in Holland für die ökonomische Lage ein Vortrag halten. Anderseits habe ich im März und April, wie Ihnen vielleicht bekannt ist, als Vorsitzender eines Sachverständigenausschusses der Hohen Behörde der Montanunion an einem Gutachten mitgearbeitet das jetzt publiziert worden ist. Weil die Sache gerade in Deutschland ein sehr starkes Interesse erregt hat und die Meinung der Sachverständigen mit der deutschen Meinung nicht übereinstimmte, wäre es vielleicht interessant darüber zu sprechen. Ich wollte jedenfalls nur deutlich machen dass ich meinerseits dazu gerne bereit bin; weiss jedoch nicht ob es da irgendwelche taktischen oder politischen Beschwerde geben würde.
Falls Sie als Daten den 18. und 19. Mai beibehalten, möchte ich nur bemerken dass ich am 19. Mai abends um 8 Uhr in Arnheim sprechen muss und deshalb Dienstagnachmittags wieder abreisen sollte.
