De Hoogedelachtbare Heer Burgemeester van de Gemeente MAASTRICHT.
In antwoord op Uw rondschrijven van 28 April 1952, No. 5111 R, dank ik U gaarne zeer voor de mij toegezonden fraaie brochure over Maastricht als vestigingsplaats voor de industrie. Ik aarzel niet de brochure buitengewoon geslaagd te noemen. Zij geeft een voortreffelijke indruk van de ook mij na aan het hart liggende stad. Wat de foto's betreft, die zijn met een zeer fijne smaak geselecteerd. Uiteraard zal het U ook niet verborgen blijven, dat naast deze aangename blikvanger meer zakelijke gegevens tenslotte bij elke concrete beslissing omtrent vestiging der industrie een hartig woordje meespreken. Die zullen dan wel in nader contact door U worden verstrekt.
Veroorlooft U mij nog enkele opmerkingen, al ware het slechts om mijn belangstelling te tonen. Wat de parkaanleg betreft is mijn indruk niet dat Maastricht reeds over overvloedige recreatieterreinen beschikt. Wellicht zal een toekomstige ontwikkeling van de stad het mogelijk maken dat dit punt, dat mogelijk in het verleden weleens in het gedrang is gekomen, iets meer aandacht krijgt. Daartegenover staat dat U de mooie omstreken onmiddellijk in de buurt hebt.
De voorstelling op blz. 15 is niet in elk opzicht duidelijk. Het is n.l. niet volkomen duidelijk bij welke lijnen de namen van de verschillende plaatsen zijn bedoeld.
Tenslotte valt het mij op dat U het vliegveld Beek noemt. In welke mate wordt dat thans voor civiel verkeer gebruikt?

In response to your circular of April 28, 1952, No. 5111 R, I would like to thank you very much for the beautiful brochure sent to me about Maastricht as a location for industry. I do not hesitate to call the brochure exceptionally successful. It gives an excellent impression of the city, which is also close to my heart. As for the photos, they have been selected with very fine taste. Naturally, it will not escape your notice that, in addition to this pleasant eye-catcher, more business-like data will ultimately play a significant role in every concrete decision regarding the establishment of industry. These will presumably be provided by you in further contact.
Allow me a few more remarks, if only to show my interest. Regarding the park layout, my impression is not that Maastricht already has abundant recreational areas. Perhaps a future development of the city will make it possible for this point, which may have been neglected in the past, to receive a bit more attention. On the other hand, you have the beautiful surroundings in the immediate vicinity.
The presentation on page 15 is not clear in every respect. Namely, it is not completely clear which lines the names of the various places are intended for.
Finally, I noticed that you mention Beek airport. To what extent is it currently used for civil traffic?
