Naar aanleiding van Uw advertentie in het weekblad "Vrij Nederland" betreffende een 2e Directie-Secretaresse, wilde ik U verzoeken mij over het volgende te adviseren.
Voor haar huwelijk heeft Mevrouw M.G. SNELTEN-Jelies (adres: Parkweg 34 c, Voorburg) op mijn bureau gewerkt als secretaresse van de Directie van 1 April 1946 tot 1 April 1948. In 1948 is zij getrouwd met een jonge medewerker van mijn bureau, die inmiddels was overgegaan naar de "Economic Commission for Europe" van de Verenigde Naties te Genève. De jongelui hebben zich daar goed aangepast en van de daar geboden gelegenheid tot verdere bekwaming in het Frans en Engels gebruik gemaakt. Helaas is de heer SNELTEN in October 1952 overleden aan een hartkwaal. Mevrouw SNELTEN is nog enige tijd op het secretariaat van de E.C.E. werkzaam geweest, heeft daarvoor ook het vereiste vrij moeilijke examen afgelegd, maar meende in de zomer 1954 toch te moeten besluiten naar Nederland terug te keren met het oog op de opvoeding van haar nu bijna vierjarige dochtertje. Haar pensioen is echter maar zeer gering, en heeft zij mijn hulp ingeroepen bij het zoeken naar een werkkring voor halve dagen.
Ik zou haar nu graag willen aanraden bij U, naar aanleiding van bovenbedoelde advertentie, te solliciteren, maar zou gaarne, alvorens dit te doen, van U vernemen of U een aanstelling voor halve dagen in overweging kunt nemen.
Ik ben uiteraard gaarne bereid tot het geven van alle gewenste nadere inlichtingen.

Following your advertisement in the weekly magazine "Vrij Nederland" regarding a 2nd Executive Secretary, I would like to request your advice on the following.
Before her marriage, Mrs. M.G. SNELTEN-Jelies (address: Parkweg 34 c, Voorburg) worked at my office as secretary to the Management from 1 April 1946 to 1 April 1948. In 1948 she married a young employee of my office, who had meanwhile transferred to the "Economic Commission for Europe" of the United Nations in Geneva. The young couple adapted well there and took advantage of the opportunity offered there for further proficiency in French and English. Unfortunately, Mr. SNELTEN passed away in October 1952 from a heart condition. Mrs. SNELTEN continued to work at the E.C.E. secretariat for some time, having also passed the required rather difficult exam for it, but decided in the summer of 1954 to return to the Netherlands with a view to raising her now nearly four-year-old daughter. However, her pension is very small, and she has requested my help in finding a part-time job.
I would now like to advise her to apply to you, following the aforementioned advertisement, but would like to hear from you, before doing so, whether you would consider a part-time appointment.
