Dear Mr. Repetto,
Your name and function were given me by Mr. Lester Brown of the World Watch Institute. Enclosed you will find an article (the English may be poor) which I wrote for the 'Ente nazionale per l'energia elettrica' (National Institution for the electrical energy), which is going to publish it in Italian. The problem I tried to solve for energy of all types you will be [find] treated in the article.
My question to you is whether your institute has data about other natural resources than energy, for instance metal ores, or arable land — and preferably about some 'total' of all resources, where the total is a weighted sum of all natural resources.
As you may understand, the figures I mean are the quantities needed (in each of some years) to produce a unit of national product. The years are two years of the past (as 1973 and 1985 in the energy case) and two years about the future (as 1989 and 2000 in Lichtblau's study).¹)

I [remember] assume that the late Tjalling C. Koopmans, a good friend of mine who before his death was professor at Yale University, [did research of this kind for copper]. His wife Truus Wanningen Koopmans is still alive and now living in Iowa City, IA 52240, 127 Koser Ave.
