Dear Dr. Ghosh,
I am afraid I did not give any comments on your letter of 20 May 1953. My difficulty is that your approach is purely statistical, but hardly economic. It was not quite clear for me therefore. What the economic problem is, in which you are interested and to which your thesis makes a contribution. May be that you have described this economic problem elsewhere. If so I shall be glad to comment upon it. Since I suppose that the copy of your thesis you sent to me is your own copy I return it under separate cover.

Haben Sie herzlichen Dank für die Bilder die angenehmen Erinnerungen an meinem Aufenthalt wachrufen. Die Diskussionen waren auch für mich wieder sehr anregend. Bezüglich des Manuskripts werde ich mein Bestes Machen; ich fand jedoch nach meiner Ferienwoche wieder ziemlich viele Aufgaben und bitte um ein Bisschen Zeit.
