Zeer geachte Heer de Waal,
Als eerste vingerwijzing zou ik U het volgende willen aanbevelen: probeert U of U het wiskundeboek van Allen "Mathematical Analysis for Econometrists" kunt doorwerken. Indien niet, dan verdient het aanbeveling de H.B.S.-stof nog wat op te halen waarop dit boek aansluit. Naast Allen kunt U wellicht vast een begin maken met de elementaire theoretische statistiek zoals U die vindt in de hoofdstukken 7 en 8 van Bakker "Statistiek" en in mijn kleine boekje "Grondproblemen der theoretische statistiek". Tevens zoudt U zich wellicht kunnen oriënteren op het gebied van de econometrie door lezing van het kleine boekje "Econometrica", waaraan ik ook schuldig ben. Mocht U een en ander hebben doorgewerkt dan zou ik U willen voorstellen eens te komen praten over verdere literatuur.

As a first pointer, I would like to recommend the following to you: try to see if you can work through Allen's mathematics book "Mathematical Analysis for Econometrists". If not, then it is recommended to brush up on the H.B.S. material to which this book connects. Besides Allen, you could perhaps already make a start with elementary theoretical statistics as you find it in chapters 7 and 8 of Bakker's "Statistiek" and in my small booklet "Grondproblemen der theoretische statistiek". You might also orient yourself in the field of econometrics by reading the small booklet "Econometrica", for which I am also responsible. Should you have worked through these things, I would like to suggest that you come and talk about further literature.
