Tot mijn grote spijt zal ik het verzoek van de Vereniging voor de Staathuishoudkunde niet kunnen inwilligen. Er is natuurlijk een vrij grote kans, dat ik de laatste drie maanden van het jaar in India zal vertoeven en ik zou dus geen bijdrage tot de vergadering van de vereniging kunnen leveren. Het spijt mij zeer, aangezien ik de uitnodiging uiteraard zeer op prijs stel.

To my great regret, I will not be able to comply with the request of the Association for Political Economy. There is, of course, a fairly high chance that I will be staying in India for the last three months of the year, and I would therefore not be able to contribute to the meeting of the association.
