Zeer geachte Heer Stork,
De heer Tinbergen, die momenteel in het buitenland verblijft, verzocht mij het volgende met U te willen bespreken.
Op 2 Mei a.s. zal Prof. Tinbergen een lezing voor U houden in Gorinchem. Sedert deze afspraak is gemaakt zijn de vergaderingen van de Raad voor de Economische Aangelegenheden uit de Ministerraad verzet van Woensdag op Dinsdag, zodat 2 Mei a.s. de R.E.A. vergadert. Hiervan is Prof. Tinbergen lid. Hij kan echter ook een van de adj. directeuren van het Centraal Planbureau verzoeken voor hem de vergadering bij te wonen, en zou dit ook 2 Mei a.s. zeker doen, tenzij een onderwerp, dat speciaal door hem persoonlijk moet worden behandeld, dien dag op de agenda staat. En het spijt me U te moeten mededelen dat de kans hierop vrij groot is. Zekerheid heb ik echter niet gekregen hieromtrent van de secretaris van de R.E.A.
Graag zou ik van U willen vernemen of U nu al wilt besluiten de bijeenkomst van de maatschappij voor Nijverheid en Handel te verzetten (ev. 17 Mei, 19 Mei, 24 Mei kan ik openhouden) of wilt wachten totdat ik van de secretaris van de R.E.A. definitief bericht heb of het betrokken onderwerp al dan niet zal worden behandeld. Dit kan echter wel een afzegging op korte termijn betekenen.

Dear Mr. Stork,
Mr. Tinbergen, who is currently staying abroad, has requested me to discuss the following with you.
On May 2nd next, Prof. Tinbergen will give a lecture for you in Gorinchem. Since this appointment was made, the meetings of the Council for Economic Affairs from the Council of Ministers have been moved from Wednesday to Tuesday, so that the R.E.A. meets on May 2nd next. Prof. Tinbergen is a member of this. However, he can also request one of the deputy directors of the Central Planning Bureau to attend the meeting for him, and would certainly do so on May 2nd next, unless a subject that must be handled specifically by him personally is on the agenda that day. And I regret to inform you that the chance of this is quite high. However, I have not received certainty regarding this from the secretary of the R.E.A.
I would like to hear from you whether you already want to decide to reschedule the meeting of the Society for Industry and Trade (possibly May 17, May 19, May 24 I can keep open) or want to wait until I have definitive word from the secretary of the R.E.A. whether or not the subject in question will be handled. This could, however, mean a short-term cancellation.
