Zeer geachte Heer Frank,
In dank ontving ik de boekbespreking in The American Economic Review. Curiositeitshalve zend ik U bijgaande brief ter inzage, die mij ook nogal genoegen deed. In verband met mogelijke herhaling van een zodanig verschijnsel ben ik natuurlijk wel enigermate benieuwd wanneer U denkt mijn tweede boekje te kunnen uitbrengen.
Laat ik U eerlijkheidshalve erbij zeggen dat behalve mijn boekje nu ook nog manuscripten zijn binnengekomen van Mendershausen en Klein, die de auteurs eveneens gaarne vrij spoedig gepubliceerd zouden zien. Zoals zo vaak in het economische is het hier dus nu weer stilstaan of hollen. Het spreekt wel vanzelf dat de belangen van deze heren moeten prevaleren boven die van de redactie van de serie. Maar men hoopt natuurlijk altijd dat de uitgever wonderen kan verrichten!
Het briefje van de heer Hansen ontvang ik gaarne terug.

Dear Mr. Frank,
I received with thanks the book review in The American Economic Review. Out of curiosity, I am sending you the enclosed letter for your inspection, which also gave me quite some pleasure. In connection with the possible recurrence of such a phenomenon, I am of course somewhat curious as to when you think you will be able to release my second book.
Let me say for the sake of honesty that, in addition to my book, manuscripts have now also been received from Mendershausen and Klein, which the authors would also like to see published fairly soon. As is so often the case in economics, it is once again a matter of standing still or running. It goes without saying that the interests of these gentlemen must prevail over those of the editorial board of the series. But one always hopes, of course, that the publisher can perform miracles!
I would like to have the note from Mr. Hansen back.
