Waarde Banning,
Een boekje als door je bedoeld, waarin een kort overzicht wordt gegeven van alle onderdelen van de economische politiek in ons land, is mij niet bekend. De moeilijkheid van het onderwerp is ook dat deze politiek de laatste 20 jaren aan snelle wisseling onderhevig is i.v.b. met de wisselende omstandigheden. Het enig mogelijke lijkt mij dus om de verlangde inlichtingen uit verschillende bronnen bijeen te brengen. Een gemakkelijk uitgangspunt biedt daarbij het boekje "5 jaar Nederlands Economisch Herstel", dat ik je te leen toezend, doch het is in de eerste plaats niet volledig, omdat er in ontbreken de meeste maatregelen die steeds door hebben gegolden (bijv. een beschrijving van het belastingstelsel), terwijl het in de tweede plaats ook alweer verouderd is om de hierboven genoemde reden. Degene voor wie het bedoeld is zal dus goed doen zich ook op andere wijze op de hoogte te stellen, m.n. door het volgen van de actuele tijdschriftlitteratuur (m.n. de Economisch-Statistische Berichten), terwijl hij zich voor wat de min of meer blijvende vormen van economische politiek op elk der vakgebieden zal moeten oriënteren.
Door je vraag heb je mij intussen wel op een duidelijke leemte attent gemaakt. Ik [zal] er over denken of er niet iemand zou zijn te animeren een boekje samen te stellen dat ongeveer aan je vragen beantwoordt.

Dear Banning,
A booklet such as the one you intended, in which a short overview is given of all parts of the economic policy in our country, is not known to me. The difficulty of the subject is also that this policy has been subject to rapid change over the last 20 years in connection with the changing circumstances. The only possible thing seems to me therefore to gather the requested information from various sources. A convenient starting point is provided by the booklet "5 years of Dutch Economic Recovery", which I am sending to you on loan, but it is in the first place not complete, because it lacks most of the measures that have always applied (e.g. a description of the tax system), while in the second place it is also already outdated for the reason mentioned above. The person for whom it is intended would therefore do well to inform themselves in other ways as well, in particular by following current periodical literature (in particular the Economic-Statistical Reports), while they will have to orient themselves on each of the subject areas regarding the more or less permanent forms of economic policy.
In the meantime, your question has made me aware of a clear gap. I [will] think about whether there might be someone who could be encouraged to compile a booklet that roughly answers your questions.
