The Ambassador of India, Dr M.S. Mehta, 7,Laan v.Oud Clingendaal, Wassenaar.
Excellency,
Unfortunately my wife and myself are prevented from attending the recption. I want to express, however, my profound gratitude for the contacts I was permitted to have with your Excellency personally and with the embassy generally. It was a human privilege to make your acquaintance, and you may be sure that the problems of India have been made to me more impressive than ever before. In fact, they are a real challenge to the present generation of the world's economists, and I hope to take a modest part in their solution.
No doubt you will be able to use on your future post, to the advantage of the relations between India and Pakistan, the wisdom and charm characteristic of your personality. With all best wishes for your personal well-being, I am
yours very sincerely,
