De Hooggeleerde Heer
Prof. Dr C. Goedhart, De Nederlandsche Bank, Oude Turfmarkt 127, Amsterdam-C.
Amice,

The Highly Learned Gentleman
Prof. Dr C. Goedhart, De Nederlandsche Bank, Oude Turfmarkt 127, Amsterdam-C.
Amice,
May I briefly return to the conversation that Messrs. Schouten and Piebenga recently had with you regarding the measurement of the volume of inflationary means of financing according to the report of De Nederlandsche Bank on pages 57 and 58? On that occasion, you referred to the minutes of one of the recent Bank Council meetings, which I unfortunately could not attend myself. I did indeed receive these minutes, but as far as I know, I sent them back again. Due to heavy workload at that time, I did not read them with the attention and compare them with the report as is necessary to make the matter of the definition completely clear to me. Therefore, I would particularly appreciate it if I could receive the relevant passages of the minutes once more.
It is still not clear to me, namely, how one arrives at a definition that is different in the case of a decreasing than in the case of an increasing money supply. Before going into this matter in detail, however, I would do better to carefully re-read all the explanations given so far.

Thank you in advance for the effort you would be willing to take.
With kind regards,
