Beste Wim,
Voor je gemak meld ik je even de volgende data, waarvan je misschien gebruik wilt maken, omdat ik van 10 September tot het einde van het jaar weg zal zijn. Zou je voor de grote vacantie willen promoveren, dan is 9 Juli de laatst mogelijke datum. Wil je deze realiseren, dan moet het volgende geschieden:
vóór 14 Mei definitieve aanvraag promotor (d.i. geloof ik al gebeurd);
vóór 28 Mei stellingen, goedgekeurd door alle betrokken professoren, inleveren;
vóór 11 Juni titelblad in tweevoud bij rector indienen om de datum vast te stellen;
18 Juni 140 exemplaren van het proefschrift bij de bibliotheek inleveren.

Dear Wim,
For your convenience, I am informing you of the following dates, which you might want to make use of, because I will be away from September 10 until the end of the year. Should you wish to obtain your doctorate before the long summer break, then July 9 is the last possible date. If you want to realize this, then the following must happen:
before May 14, final application for supervisor (i.e. I believe this has already happened);
before May 28, submit propositions, approved by all involved professors;
before June 11, submit title page in duplicate to the rector to set the date;
June 18, submit 140 copies of the dissertation to the library.
