Waarde de Boer,
Mag ik een ogenblikje Uw aandacht vragen voor de positie van de heer W. Begeer? Deze heeft de rang van co-assistent, doch het is de gemeenschappelijke opvatting van zijn drie "bazen" (collega Theil, de heer Hartog en mij) dat hij zeker niet achterstaat bij andere functionarissen die de rang van assistent hebben. Hij geeft na half Maart gewoonlijk een responsiecollege Statistiek (dit jaar zal dit wellicht eerder beginnen). Hij verricht een groot deel van het correctiewerk van de propaedeutische examens en heeft voor collega Theil zowel als voor mij op verdienstelijke wijze enige wetenschappelijke kwesties nader bewerkt. Kortom hij voldoet aan alle eisen die men aan een goed assistent kan stellen. Wij zouden het daarom bijzonder op prijs stellen wanneer hij bevorderd zou kunnen worden.

Dear de Boer,
May I ask for a moment of your attention regarding the position of Mr. W. Begeer? He holds the rank of co-assistant, but it is the common opinion of his three "bosses" (colleague Theil, Mr. Hartog, and me) that he is certainly not inferior to other officials who hold the rank of assistant. After mid-March, he usually gives a response lecture in Statistics (this year this will perhaps start earlier). He performs a large part of the correction work for the propaedeutic exams and has, in a meritorious manner, further processed some scientific issues for both colleague Theil and me. In short, he meets all the requirements that can be expected of a good assistant. We would therefore particularly appreciate it if he could be promoted.
