Beste Tik,
Hartelijk dank voor de toezending van je boekje over Suriname, dat ik buitengemeen geslaagd vond. Mijn gezinsleden willen er aanstonds heengaan!
De zaak van je opvolging heb ik verder met de heer Van Lier besproken; daarom heb je niets meer van mij gehoord. Het blijft een moeilijke kwestie, maar ik heb hem nog de heer v.d. Lely genoemd met wie hij in bespreking is. Er lopen maar weinig schapen met vijf poten rond. Intussen hoop ik dat je met je ingenieurs- en economie-diploma's prettig zult rondlopen in Mexico. De plaats waar wij over drie maanden moeten rondlopen is nog in het onzekere.

Thank you very much for sending your booklet about Suriname, which I found exceptionally successful. My family members want to go there immediately!
The matter of your succession I have further discussed with Mr. Van Lier; that is why you have not heard anything more from me. It remains a difficult issue, but I have also mentioned Mr. v.d. Lely to him, with whom he is in discussion. There are very few five-legged sheep walking around. In the meantime, I hope that you will enjoy walking around in Mexico with your engineering and economics degrees. The place where we will have to walk around in three months is still uncertain.
