Bij mijn bezoek aan de VS is het mij gebleken, dat onze collega hoogleraar aan Harvard University, Dr J.A.C. Fagginger Auer (Nederlandse nationaliteit) in dit jaar emeritus wordt en overweegt om zich in Nederland te vestigen. Hij zou daardoor, zo wij dit wensten, beschikbaar zijn voor het geven van enige colleges, waarvoor hij veel belangstelling toonde. Ik beschouw het mijn zaak niet hierover mijn opinie te geven, maar meen wel goed te doen je op de hoogte te stellen. Zijn gebied is dat van de philosophie der godsdiensten.

Dear Duyvendak,
During my visit to the US, it became clear to me that our colleague professor at Harvard University, Dr J.A.C. Fagginger Auer (Dutch nationality) will become emeritus this year and is considering settling in the Netherlands. He would therefore, if we so desired, be available to give some lectures, for which he showed much interest. I do not consider it my business to give my opinion on this, but I do think it is good to inform you. His field is that of the philosophy of religions.
