Amice,
Sta mij toe dat ik je even lastig val voor een niet-ambtelijke aangelegenheid. Het is mij bekend dat Mejuffrouw VAN ESSEN, van de huishoudelijke dienst van het Ministerie van Financiën, die thans haar woning heeft in het sousterrain van het gebouw in de Parkstraat, veel moeite heeft om huisvesting te vinden en dat zij het bijzonder zou waarderen als zij zou kunnen blijven wonen waar zij thans woont. Via haar zuster, die wij goed kennen, heeft zij mijn hulp ingeroepen. Alles wat ik kan doen is te verklaren, dat ik meen dat zij zich als bewoonster steeds prima zal gedragen en dat ik hoop dat hier een oplossing mogelijk is. Dit briefje mag misschien wel doorgezonden worden naar degene die het eigenlijk zou moeten behandelen, waarvoor ik bij voorbaat mijn vriendelijke dank betuig.

Allow me to bother you for a moment regarding a non-official matter. It is known to me that Miss VAN ESSEN, of the domestic service of the Ministry of Finance, who currently has her residence in the basement of the building in the Parkstraat, has much difficulty finding housing and that she would particularly appreciate it if she could continue living where she currently lives. Through her sister, whom we know well, she has requested my help. All I can do is declare that I believe she will always behave excellently as a resident and that I hope a solution is possible here. This note may perhaps be forwarded to the person who should actually handle it, for which I express my kind thanks in advance.
