Zeer geachte Heer Roelofs,
Er is geen drukfout in het spel; ik heb het inderdaad bedoeld zoals het er staat. De motivering is ongeveer deze: de situatie die geldt t.a.v. de werkgelegenheid is bepalend voor de loonveranderingen. Is er een grote werkloosheid, dan zal die een zekere druk op het loon oefenen, d.w.z. een tendentie tot loonsverlaging bewerken. Is er daarentegen volle bezetting dan zal er een zuiging op het loon bestaan. Een nadere motivering en ook een vergelijking met de tegengestelde samenhang is te vinden in de Nederlandse Conjunctuur, September 1933, blz. 10.

Dear Mr. Roelofs,
There is no typo involved; I indeed intended it as it is written. The reasoning is roughly this: the situation regarding employment is decisive for wage changes. If there is high unemployment, it will exert a certain pressure on wages, i.e., work towards a tendency for wage reduction. If, on the other hand, there is full employment, there will be a pull on wages. A further explanation and also a comparison with the opposite correlation can be found in the Dutch Business Cycle, September 1933, p. 10.
