Beste Barend,
Van de zijde van de heer Menten werd mij medegedeeld Van der Vlugt veel succes heeft gehad met een boek, dat hij in Amerika heeft gepubliceerd onder de titel "Asia Flame". Daaruit heeft men afgeleid, dat hij gevoel heeft voor het benaderen van de Amerikaanse publieke opinie. Hij is nu werkend onder de leus Trade not Aid en Twente heeft nog al enig vertrouwen in deze onderneming. Ik hoop dat deze enkele aanduidingen je de situatie iets duidelijker maken.

From Mr. Menten's side, I was informed that Van der Vlugt has had much success with a book he published in America under the title "Asia Flame". From this, it has been inferred that he has a feeling for approaching American public opinion. He is now working under the slogan Trade not Aid and Twente still has some confidence in this undertaking. I hope these few indications make the situation a bit clearer to you.
