Dear Mr Simpson,
Prof. Somers wrote to me that he accepted the article as an annex to my book but did not know whether the editor agrees. I am waiting for his reaction.
Since the other papers included as annexes in my book have been published elsewhere before, I wonder whether not my my article could be published in Econometrica and, somewhat later, in my book on Econometrics. In that way both your preference and my promise to Prof. Somers could be taken account of. If you think this is duplication, I could understand your point of view and would then leave it to Prof. Somers to decide. If the editor would not follow Prof. Somers' suggestion for publication in the book I would of course course appreciate publication in Econometrica all the more.
