Dear Mr. Hoffmann,
The news that you will take over the important function in Paris has already reached me. I would like to congratulate you on this honorable appointment, which will undoubtedly give you great satisfaction but also a lot of work. Is your wife not happy about the Paris year?
It was my intention to arrive in Münster on Monday at 11:21 and unfortunately I will travel back again on Tuesday at 17:58. I already have the article by Bombach and I will study it. How would it be if I gave a lecture on my article in the W. A. from 1942? In the general lecture I could speak about the tax issue in the European Coal and Steel Community, as I believe we have already agreed. If another subject seems more pleasant to you, I look forward to your advice.

Lieber Herr Hoffmann,
Die Nachricht dass Sie die wichtige Funktion in Paris übernehmen werden hat mich schon erreicht. Ich gratuliere gerne zu dieser ehrenvollen Ernennung die Ihnen ohne Zweifel grosse Befriedigung aber auch viele Arbeit geben wird. Freut sich Ihre Frau Gemahlin nicht wegen des Pariser Jahres?
Es war meine Absicht am Montag um 11.21 in Münster einzutreffen und leider werde ich am Dienstag wieder zurückreisen und zwar um 17.58. Der Aufsatz von Bombach besitze ich schon und ich werde ihn studieren. Wie wäre es wenn ich vortrage über meinen Aufsatz im W. A. von 1942? Im allgemeinen Vortrag könnte ich über die Steuerfrage in der Montanunion sprechen, wie wir glaube ich schon verabredet haben. Wenn Ihnen eine andere Gegenstand angenehmer vorkommt empfehle ich mich für Ihre Ratschläge.
Ich freue mich sehr auf das Besuch und hoffe [dass] es Ihnen allen wohl ergeht.
